Being one of the premier King Salmon fishing rivers in the state of Alaska it is pretty easy to forecast the coming seasons fishing outlook. In short, it is lots of fish are expected to return again.

When I say “lots” I mean lots. Where in some areas in the lower 48 and even in Alaska a 1 or 2 fish day is pretty spectacular, on the Nushagak a 50 fish day is not unheard of. Can you imagine …. 50 chrome bright King Salmon in a single day!

We have a very short season in that the King Salmon come blasting through from about mid June until about mid July. During this time there are also Sockeye (Red) Salmon available to catch along with some trophy Rainbow Trout in the river.

Retention rates have not been set but we anticipate 1 King Salmon per day for a total of 5 fish. What you need to remember is these fish are not runts but big 20-30 pound brutes that quickly fill a fish box.

If your looking to go on that Alaska Fishing Trip Of a Lifetime and you enjoy catching lots of King Salmon then there is no better choice than a fishing adventure to the Nushagak River in SW Alaska.
