Trophy Rainbow Trout Cruise The Nushagak
The Nushagak is known for some of the best Trophy Rainbow Trout fishing in Alaska. Although most of the Bows are further upstream we are surprised from time to time to bring in a Rainbow when fishing for Salmon.
These fish range in size with an average fish being in the 8 pound range and some get over 10 pounds. Most of the time you think you have a samon on your line until you get it close to the boat and see that distinctive glimmering rainbow running down its side.
These fish follow the salmon runs and feed on the eggs they are laying. Later in the summer these fish are very fat from all the eggs they have gourged themselves on. You can target these fish by throwing an egg pattern at them or use a spinner with a deep red color.
